Digitise radiotherapy department

Issue/opportunity:

The Radiotherapy department of  VUmc was still using old fashioned hard copy patient folders to log patient information. The method was slow, error-prone and not future proof. I was asked to modernize and digitise this way of working.

Approach:

The full patient journey was mapped out to define critical bottlenecks, stakeholder interests were defined, and needs and wants of end users were collected.

Result:

The department could operate fully digitally after the software was introduced, the team was trained, and documentation was distributed. The physical patient folders are a thing of the past now.

Inner Peace Network

Live video platform for innerpeace.network

Issue/opportunity:

Due to the Corona pandemic, the Inner Peace Network was not able to host offline conferences anymore. A quick move towards the online world was needed to keep providing their community with content in times where offline events were not possible: an online live stream platform was the answer.

Approach:

Because of a lack of time and budget, it was not possible to create a platform from scratch. Instead, a route of connecting several existing plug-and-play solutions was chosen: Loxi for the schedule, Plink to handle payments, Zoom as the live stream platform. All tools were integrated in the existing website.

Result:

In a matter of weeks, a v1.0 was live and the first online sessions were sold and consumed through the online platform. The Inner Peace Network had found a new viable existence.

Delight Academy

Learning Management Solution

Issue/opportunity:

The Delight Academy grew fast and traditional means (e.g. sharing of learning materials through mail) were not adequate anymore to provide students with a proper learning experience. A better solution was needed to keep up with growth of the academy.

Approach:

Based on the old way of working, a solution was drafted how a solution would work in an ideal world, with need-to-haves and nice-to-haves. Based on this feature list, a research phase was started to find the best solution based on out-of-the-box tools. Some need-to-haves: scalable, intuitive user experience, feature rich but not too complex, plug-and-play, team should be able to maintain the platform themselves.

Result:

The right tool was found and tested with the team. I took care of the initial set-up, the training of the team, development of documentation, training of first students. Now it is a fully self-functioning system where back-office, teachers and students enjoy working with the learning management system. All communication goes through the platform, and no emails have been sent since the introduction.

Delight Yoga – Subtool

Delight Yoga experienced an issue with the very cumbersome and error-prone process of finding substitutions for 300 classes per week, in 5 studios, with 120 teachers. Managing the substitutions was a stressful job for 1 FTE, and scalability was hindered. A marketplace was developed from scratch where teachers can offer and accept each other’s classes, without any management involved.

KNRM – business plan mobile app:

I was asked to research the opportunity of launching an app as a means of raising funds for this charity.

Delight Yoga – Introduce Slack

With Delight Yoga growing, it became harder and harder to keep communicating effectively with a team of almost 200 people. Communication tool Slack was introduced and the community embraced the new way of communicating with each other. And the best thing: no more WhatsApp groups.
